Unai Emery's Villa begin 2026/27 as a Champions League club.
Aston Villa go into the new season as an established European side under Unai Emery, coming off a fourth-place Premier League finish and a Europa League triumph in 2025/26. The summer has brought a major reshape, with record departure Morgan Rogers sold to Chelsea for around £117m and a club-record signing in Johan Manzambi arriving from Freiburg, while Alejandro Garnacho comes in on loan. They open away at Brighton on Sunday 23 August.
Fourth place and a European trophy
These numbers come from the 2025/26 Premier League season, not the one about to start. Villa finished fourth to reach the Champions League, and capped the campaign by winning the UEFA Europa League with a 3-0 win over SC Freiburg in the final.
Unai Emery stays on as head coach, with John McGinn continuing as captain, so the spine of that European run carries into the new campaign.

Matchday at Villa Park
Everything for a home game: getting a ticket, the ground itself, getting there and parking, and where to eat and drink around it. For away days, the travel planner is further down.
Getting a ticket
Villa Park sells out for most league games, and tickets are offered to season-ticket holders and members first before any general sale, with ballots or a first come first served window for what is left. We do not sell tickets and we do not list prices, because availability and pricing change through the season. Always buy through the club or an official channel, and use the club's own resale system rather than the touts.
Buy tickets
The official ticketing site is where match tickets go on sale, where you join any waiting list and where you read the current terms. What is available depends on the game and how far members sales have gone.
Official ticketingMembership and ballots
An official Adult or Junior Membership is the usual route in for supporters without a season ticket, giving access to priority sales windows and ballots before tickets reach general sale.
Membership optionsMatchday hospitality
The club sells hospitality and premium matchday experiences at Villa Park, which are a different product from a general admission seat. Packages and what they include are set out on the official site.
Hospitality on avfc.co.ukTicket exchange
When a game has sold out, season-ticket holders can list seats they cannot use through the club's resale system, and members can pick them up. It is the official, safe way to buy or sell a spare ticket.
Ticketing informationGetting to Villa Park
Villa Park sits in Aston, a couple of miles north of Birmingham city centre. The two closest railway stations are Witton and Aston, both a short walk from the ground and reached on local lines out of Birmingham New Street, which is the main hub if you are travelling in from further afield. Birmingham has no underground, so it is local trains and buses rather than a tube. Matchday parking around the stadium is limited and the surrounding streets are residential with restrictions, so travelling in by train or booking an official or pre-arranged space is the easier option. For the full, current travel and access details it is best to use the club's own directions page.
