A new voice on the touchline as Liverpool go again
Liverpool start 2026/27 under Andoni Iraola, appointed on 4 June 2026 after Arne Slot left at the end of May. Last season the Reds slipped from champions to fifth, and the summer has been one of real upheaval. Mohamed Salah departed as a free agent when his contract was ended a year early, and the season was shadowed by the death of Diogo Jota, whose number 20 shirt has been retired in his memory. Virgil van Dijk leads the side into the new campaign, with the opener at Newcastle on the opening weekend.
How 2025/26 finished
Liverpool's title defence never caught fire. They came home fifth in the Premier League and ended the campaign without silverware, which set the stage for the change of manager this summer.
No trophies to show for it. Liverpool were Community Shield runners-up, went out of the FA Cup in the quarter-finals and the EFL Cup in the fourth round, and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

Anfield sells out for almost every match and tickets are in high demand, so a little planning helps. Here is how tickets generally work, kept honest and general. Availability and prices vary by fixture and change through the season, so everything links out to the club, which is the only place to see what is actually on sale today.

Home league tickets are usually released to season-ticket holders and members first, and any wider general sale tends to be limited and to move quickly. The official tickets page is the reliable place to see what is on sale, how each release works and when the next one opens.

An Official Membership gives supporters access to ticket sales ahead of the general public, and busy fixtures are often handled through a sales window or ballot rather than a straight first come basis. For fans without a season ticket it is the common route to a fair shot at a seat.

Anfield sits in a residential part of north Liverpool, and the city has no Underground, so most supporters travel in by train and bus or on foot from the city centre. Liverpool is served by the Merseyrail network, and Lime Street is the main national rail station for anyone travelling in from further afield. There is no station right at the ground, so most fans arrive by rail into the city and finish the journey by bus, taxi or on foot.
