A new voice on the touchline as Liverpool go again

Liverpool start 2026/27 under Andoni Iraola, appointed on 4 June 2026 after Arne Slot left at the end of May. Last season the Reds slipped from champions to fifth, and the summer has been one of real upheaval. Mohamed Salah departed as a free agent when his contract was ended a year early, and the season was shadowed by the death of Diogo Jota, whose number 20 shirt has been retired in his memory. Virgil van Dijk leads the side into the new campaign, with the opener at Newcastle on the opening weekend.
